Bob Dylan‘s Rolling Thunder spirit lives on through The Bob Cats. Based in Woodstock, NY, where Dylan and The Band forged their explosive folk-rock sound, The Bob Cats bring to life the rock ’n’ roll essence of the Dylan classics, with passion and authenticity.
Featuring Jerry Marotta – world-renowned drummer from the great bands of Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates and Paul McCartney -and his band of Woodstock all-stars, The Bob Cats rock the Dylan songbook with soul and fire!
After performing together around Woodstock in various configurations, including the Bob Dylan Birthday Celebrations with Happy Traum, The Bob Cats formed officially in 2021. Brought together by a shared love of Dylan, and a desire to return to rock ‘n’ roll. A debut show at Woodstock’s Colony Beer Garden turned into a regular attraction in town, and soon the group would be playing all around NY state – packing rooms with enthusiastic audiences of Dylan devotees, and followers of their own.
In the past year, The Bob Cats brought their rolling thunder to some of New York’s great listening rooms, including The Towne Crier, My Father’s Place, The Falcon and The Strand Theater.
Jerry Marotta propels The Bob Cats with his undeniable groove, and that powerful rock ‘n’ roll heartbeat that drives his timeless bangers like “You Make My Dreams Come True” and “Still the One.” Life-long Dylan interpreters Doug Yoel and Kyle Esposito dig deep into the lyrical and vocal feeling of these classic songs. Kyle, the band’s resident guitar hero, along with pedal steel and slide guitar master Rob Stein (The Mammals), bring the fireworks and the dreaminess to the music. Bruce Milner (Every Mother’s Son) plays piano and organ, and sings beautifully in the group, while Chuck Cornelis (Chris Isaak) lays down an authoritative bass groove.
Together, The Bob Cats explore Dylan’s best loved tunes and deep cuts, and all of the sonic variations that made Bob’s concerts so engaging throughout the decades. The result is an thrilling mix of classic sounds, fiery re-interpretations, and some epic instrumental moments.
