Channeling the spirit of Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue, Woodstock’s premier keepers of the Dylan flame bring their electrifying rock ‘n’ roll show to Valatie Community Theater on Saturday, May 23.
Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder spirit lives on through The Bob Cats. Based in Woodstock — where Dylan and The Band forged their explosive folk-rock sound — the group celebrates the legendary songwriter’s birthday this May with a special return performance at Valatie Community Theater.
Featuring world-renowned drummer Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates, Paul McCartney) and his band of Woodstock all-stars, The Bob Cats rock the Dylan songbook with soul and fire. Life-long Dylan interpreters Doug Yoel and Kyle Esposito dig deep on vocals and guitar; pedal steel and slide master Rob Stein (The Mammals) brings the fireworks and the dreaminess; Bruce Milner (Every Mother’s Son) commands piano and organ; and Chuck Cornelis (Chris Isaak) lays down an authoritative bass groove.
Formed in 2021, the band has become a Hudson Valley staple, packing rooms with Dylan devotees and fans of their own. Journalist Sal Cataldi observed that the band delivers “a thrilling mix of authenticity, musicality, and reinterpretation that captivates audiences.” Drawing from 60+ songs, they explore beloved classics and deep cuts alike – vintage arrangements, fiery re-interpretations, and epic instrumental moments – capturing everything that made Bob’s concerts so thrilling across the decades.
